Mother's Day
With Bunches of Love for our Special Oakhill Mothers
by Barbie Leibbrandt
There was a double Mother’s Day celebration at Oakhill last week - a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to express their love and adoration for their dear Moms. The “Little Oaks” danced and sang and giggled and waved and recited poems of love for their Moms in the hall on Thursday and one little fellow showed his dismay, bursting into a flurry of tears because his Mom hadn’t clapped loud enough! Oh for the purity and honesty of youth! Moms were then ushered back to the “Little Oaks” venue, where they were presented with beautiful personalized flower arrangements, chatting amongst themselves and enjoying cups of tea with muffins and jam and cream.
The Grades 4, 5 and 6 pupils gathered in the hall on Friday morning, treating their Moms to a delicious breakfast interspersed with jovial entertainment. The hall was filled with happy Moms, proud and excited children and abuzz with shrieks of mirth and laughter.
A morning to be remembered for years to come.
It is never difficult to be inspired by a Mother’s Love, so this year’s inspiration goes like this:
I Love You Dear Mom
Mothers make our world go around
With love and care and giving
They multi-task from dawn to dusk
And never stop exclaiming!
They make each day a joy to live
They blend the good with busy
They give, they do, and do with care
Embracing all with a Mother’s flair.
They have a spark for getting it right
No matter what the pressure
The ups, the downs, the cries for help
A Mom is simply a treasure.
So how about our love for them
It’s more than we could comprehend
It’s forever, it’s endless, it’s beanstalk high
It’s as much and more than meets the eye.
So listen up Mom, this poem is for you
You bring peace to my world, and I love you , I do I wish you a day filled with goodness and cheer You’re better than best, You are special and dear.
